International mother Language day
International mother Language day
Mother language means the first
language of a person. People can express their feelings, thoughts etc. easily
though their mother language. The 21st February is observed as the
International Mother Language Day. It is a red letter day in our national life.
On this very day in 1952 many people laid down their lives for the sake of our
mother tongue. In order to show due respect and honour to the language martyrs.
UNESCO declared this day as The International Mother language day on the 17th
November, 1999. This declaration has turned a national celebration into an
international event. Every year on this day, people walk to the Shaheed Minar
barefooted and offer flowers and wreaths on the pavement. The Government,
different organisations arrange programmes to celebrate the day. The objective
of observing the day are to inspire a person to love his mother language as
well as show respect to all other mother Languages of other nations at a time.
All the states under UNO celebrate the day every year. However, the recognition
has added a new chapter in our national history. It has upheld the prestige of
Bangalis all over the world.
